Sodikart is a French Kart manufacturing company located in Coueron, France, near the outskirts of Nantes. The company was started in 1981 by Gildas Merian when he first imported the Danish DINO racing Karts into France and began his own racing Team.

In 1989, Gildas started manufacturing competition Karts under the name of Sodikart. In 1990 and 1991 they won the Junior World Cup title and in 1993, they won the FIA/CIK Formula A World Championship Title with driver David Terrian.

Karting manufactures follow three distinct paths, competition Karts for those who are seeking a real adrenaline rush with side by side racing, leisure Karts for those who are seeking the sensations of driving fast without having to race, and rental Karts for those who just want to race around the track with a few friends on infrequent occasions. Sodikart has elected to manufacture all three types of Karts.

Following the initial titles won in the early 90’s, Sodikart directed a significant amount of effort into producing rental Karts for a very rapidly growing industry around the world. With the advent of the Bombardier Rotax Max 125 engine, leisure Karts became more and more popular. Sodikart became the French distributor of Rotax engines and started to supply Sodikart chassis with the popular engine and then produced the radical RM1 for Bombardier. In 2002, Sodikart decided to revisit the competition scene and began manufacturing the SR series of competition Karts. The SR3 was driven by Arnaud Kozlinski to second place in the 2003 FIA/CIK World Super A Championships and the SR4 to first place in the 2004 European Championship. In 2006, Mike Courquin claimed the World Title in the ICA Class. Sodikart has the capability to fabricate 7000 Karts per year of all types.

Due to the rapid growth in Karts sales, in 1999, Sodikart built a new 86,100 square foot plant that now employees 70 workers and generates annual earnings exceeding $15 million. Sodikart has an Engineering Research and Design Team  that can produce innovative design concepts and back them up by full scale track testing at their own test track. The Team has the expertise to development: new materials and structures by using Computer Aided Design (CAD) machines that are linked to the manufacturing floor. The R&D budget exceeds 4% of the total revenue and includes: CAD system, FE analysis code, testing equipment and a fully equipped lab. Sodikart supports a line of Karting products through ITAKA.

In 1997, Sodikart USA became the importer of Sodikart rental Karts in the United States and have since become the dominant provider of Indoor Track rental Karts. In 2004, Sodikart USA began the foundation that has supported Sodikart marketing and sales of competition Karts in the Unites States since 2005. With a growing parts supply depot in Boynton, Florida, Sodikart USA has the capability to support Sodikart customers throughout the United States.

In 2004, MTD Karting became a Sodikart USA Dealer in Arizona.
